Star Trek Lower Decks: Second Contact was a jolly good reunion with the crazy crew of the USS Cerritos. Reading the comic felt remarkably like watching the show. Nay—better than that. It felt like stepping into that world. That is a gift of all good books. Well, minus the risk of being vaporized or taken over by an alien artifact that someone absolutely should not have touched.

Fans of legacy Trek will be excited to see several from the older shows, like Janeway. These are all new myste…. aahh adventures, featuring everything from a ghost ship to an entire missing star system. You know, perfectly routine Starfleet business. The result is a graphic novel that captures the humor, heart, weirdness, and unabashed love of Star Trek that makes Lower Decks such a joy.

So, if you love Star Trek—and especially if the USS Cerritos holds a special place in your Trekkie heart—be sure to check out Star Trek Lower Decks: Second Contact. Warp speed recommended.
