Nameless Book Tag

I plundered this from YA ON MY MIND.

WHAT BOOK HAS BEEN ON YOUR SHELF THE LONGEST?

Hmmm. Probably Star Trek: Time for Yesterday. I inherited it from my uncle when I was 11.

WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT READ, YOUR LAST READ, AND THE BOOK YOU’LL READ NEXT?

LAST PAGE: READ IT FIRST, OR WAIT TILL THE END?

Usually, I prefer to wait. Sometimes I will read the last page early on. I am more likely to do that if I’m annoyed with the book and want it to end…

WHAT BOOK DID EVERYONE LIKE, BUT YOU HATED?

I just don’t even…. Ugh.

WHAT BOOK ARE YOU SAVING FOR RETIREMENT?

Uh, none. I’m always reading and always adding to my TBR mountain.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: WASTE OF PAPER AND INK, OR INTERESTING ASIDE?

I think sometimes they can run a little long, but it’s good that all those who supported the author are given credit. Besides, some acknowledgements have funny anecdotes in them. 😄

WHICH BOOK CHARACTER WOULD YOU SWITCH PLACES WITH?

I’m not sure. I don’t think I’d like to switch with anyone. I’d rather visit the world as myself.

NAME A BOOK THAT YOU ACQUIRED IN AN INTERESTING WAY.

Probably the most interesting way was by stumbling across a Little Library in our neighborhood and finding an interesting book in it. My life is clearly not exciting…

HAVE YOU EVER GIVEN A BOOK AWAY FOR A SPECIAL REASON TO A SPECIAL PERSON?

I’ve given copies of my own works to family and close friends.

WHICH BOOK HAS BEEN WITH YOU MOST PLACES?

Anything stored on my Kindle 🤣😆

ANY “REQUIRED READING” YOU HATED IN HIGH SCHOOL THAT WASN’T SO BAD LATER?

Frankenstein. I loved the story but despised Shelley’s writing style. It’s grown on me over the past two decades.

Frankenstein, National Theatre Live

USED OR BRAND NEW?

I’m good with either actually. You can find some nice gems in used bookstores! I’m quite happy to wander in either a used or new bookstore. There’s magic in any bookstore!

HAVE YOU EVER READ A DAN BROWN BOOK?

This question is hella random, but yes, I have. I’ve read all but Origin. My favourites are Angels & Demons and Inferno.

HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A MOVIE YOU LIKED MORE THAN THE BOOK?

Lord of the Rings/ The Hobbit. Only because I think Jackson did a marvelous job bringing it to life. I love the books though. I think books are better usually, because there’s so much hidden depth that can’t be translated through acting. It can only be experienced thanks to the reader’s mental interface with the story. Books make empathising easier. And often, movies must cut vital scenes that add nuance that then gets lost. Like, I love the Harry Potter movies, but they really left a lot out.

HAVE YOU EVER READ A BOOK THAT’S MADE YOU HUNGRY (COOKBOOKS INCLUDED)?

Uh, any fantasy novel ever.

WHO IS THE PERSON WHOSE BOOK ADVICE YOU’LL ALWAYS TAKE?

There’s no one I can think of whose advice I’d always take.

IS THERE A BOOK OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE (E.G., OUTSIDE YOUR USUAL READING GENRE) THAT YOU ENDED UP LOVING?

Loving? No. Enjoying, yes. Romance certainly isn’t my cuppa, but I have come to enjoy historic romance.

  1. Oof, I enjoyed Twilight at the time ONLY because I didn’t like it but somehow managed to get through it, LOL. Now that I have no shame with DNFing books, though, I’ll likely hate it more than I did back then. I love reading acknowledgements when there’s a funny story involved!
